I can somewhat relate but for different reasons. Moved to a small town called Pedernales. Being a Korean-American in a small town in Ecuador…..talk about sticking out! Everyday I would take my kids for a walk and almost everyday people would make insulting “Ching Chong” noises at us. Tried to ignore, but tough to take this over and over without letting it affect you.
Power would come and go all throughout the day, water would sometimes come and sometimes not come for days at a time, horrible Internet connection, and boy were we a target for the thieves. Had so many things stolen from the patio of our home, including our puppy. So we moved to Manta after about 8 months of this torture.
